"You're going to Utica": My dad belonged to the Masonic Order, one that met in Manhattan when we lived there. One of the benefits of being a Mason (aside from the really cool apron you get when you are Grand PooBa) is that you get to use their medical and retirement facilities for almost nothing if you are sick or old. My grandmother spent a few years in the retirement home (if that's what you want to call it) in Utica and my dad and I used to skip work/school and leave from NH at 5 am and drive across Vermont and NY to pick her up or visit her. The building is actually one of those beautiful old brick things, but the hospital wing where my grandmother resided was sickly green and 150 degrees and smelly and we were always glad to get her out of there. Anyway, whenever my parents would annoy one of us or do something forgetful, we'd say, "hey, you'd better watch it or we're sending you to UTICA."
